Buoy LLC has developed the most environmentally sustainable bottle on the market, and we are the sole authorised importer and distributor for the range of Buoy products in Australia.

Buoy’s products are the first of their kind and are made with 100% recycled ocean-bound plastic, collected from rivers and coastal regions. Buoy specifically uses HDPE from recycled milk and juice bottles and a state-of-the-art recycling facility in California processes these materials into their products using solar energy. The products are BPA-free and food-grade certified and can be recycled at the end of their life.

Using 100% recycled material is very difficult indeed. Recycled plastic reduces the melt flow by a factor of ten without the addition of additives and, unlike other companies, Buoy does not use additives to make the recycled plastic more flexible. As a consequence, the shape of the bottle had to be adapted to the complex processing of HDPE. Moulds had to be built specifically for these conditions in order to be able to control the material flow into the mould.

After four years, four manufacturers and two moulds later, Buoy achieved their goal and brought their products to market.

Buoy carefully selected the surface texture of the drink bottle, ensuring a slight roughness for a secure fit, whilst at the same time a matte finish provides the desired aesthetic. Buoy also tightened the bottle components for weight reduction and optimal robustness and designed the thread in such a way that only a few turns are required to close and open the bottle, which is very convenient.

Buoy drink bottles can also be returned and recycled at the end of their service life so that new bottles can be made from them. This creates a circular economy that reduces the CO2 footprint by 80% compared to the use of virgin material.

Each Buoy product that you purchase directly prevents plastic waste from entering the ocean.

We are not just selling Buoy products; we are striving to support the amazing work that Buoy are doing and make a difference in advancing the Circular Economy.
