A simple question led to the formation of our business.

For many years, our founder was an active sports participant, children’s sports coach and sideline parent. Along the way, it was evident that countless water bottles were left at sporting fields or abandoned in lost property areas. Made from virgin raw materials, these bottles often ended up in landfill when their owners didn’t reclaim them.

This observation sparked an important question: “Where could I find a safe, durable, lightweight, food-grade water bottle made from recycled materials that could itself be recycled at the end of its life?”

The answer was far more difficult than envisaged. Many calls to bottle manufacturers and recycling companies took place, to learn that no-one had yet been able to manufacture such a product that supported the circular economy.

After considerable research and conversations with experts about the complexity of manufacturing a safe, food-grade, light, strong, recycled and recyclable bottle we came across Buoy LLC and soon realised that what their team had achieved was remarkable.
